The paracheck
Rapid malaria test – Community health center of Karan
The nurse takes the boy to another room for a paracheck which is a new quick test to detect malaria. The results will come in 15 minutes later : positive.
This time it’s not too bad and the boy will be sent home with a 3 day treatment based on ACT, else he would be sent to Kangaba to get a stronger treatment. That is if he can afford the trip, most people here could not, and without the quick test and the 3 day treatment they would be left with their illness or worse with a useless chloroquine based treatment.
